Dell laptop screen with a vertical line – damaged panel
A vertical line like this means the panel itself is damaged and needs replacing.

Common Dell screen problems

  • Cracked screen after a drop or something left on the keyboard when the lid closed – panel replacement.
  • Vertical lines or a pink/green tint – damaged panel, not a software fault.
  • Black screen but the keyboard lights up – backlight failure or display cable; we test both first.
  • Flickering on Inspiron 2-in-1 and Latitude models – often the hinge-worn display cable, which is cheaper than a panel.
  • XPS screen lifting at the corner – usually a swollen battery pushing the lid; we check the battery before fitting a screen.

Finding your Dell model

The model is printed on the sticker underneath (e.g. “Inspiron 15 3520”) or on the Dell Service Tag label. Text either to us and we’ll quote the correct panel – Dell often uses several screen variants per model, so the tag saves guesswork.

How it works

  1. Text or call 0421 388 876 with the model or Service Tag.
  2. We confirm the price and whether the screen is in stock.
  3. Text or call before you come, then drop in to 2 Bellevue Rd, Bentleigh East VIC 3165 – open 5am–11pm, 7 days.
  4. Most in-stock screens are fitted while you wait.

See the price guide for what affects price, or our HP, Lenovo and Asus pages.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Dell laptop screen replacement cost?

Inspiron and Latitude 15.6″ Full HD panels are among the cheapest screens we fit; XPS 4K and OLED touch panels cost more. Call or text 0421 388 876 with the service tag or model for a price in minutes.

Can you replace a Dell XPS 13 or XPS 15 screen?

Yes. XPS screens are high-resolution, often touch, and bonded to the lid – they take 1–2 days because the exact panel is ordered for your model.

Does Dell’s warranty cover a cracked screen?

Not the standard warranty. Only Dell Accidental Damage Service (sold separately) covers cracks and drops.

Can I upgrade my Dell Inspiron from HD to Full HD?

Usually yes if it has the common 30-pin eDP connector. We confirm from the model and fit a brighter Full HD IPS panel for a small extra cost.

How long does a Dell screen replacement take?

Under an hour for in-stock Inspiron, Vostro and Latitude panels; 1–2 days for XPS, Alienware and touch models.
